Community, News, and Events

25th February 2010

Community engagement in 2010. Searson Buck's Social Environment and Community Action (SECA) committee raised several thousand dollars to support community and charity initiatives in 2008/2009.

This included:

Searson Buck Global Village

The Searson Buck Global Village was a new initiative where monies raised from casual Friday's (staff donate when they wear casual clothes on Friday) was used to provide livestock or a variety of essential services to families or villages in countries of need. Through a structured, transparent approach we aimed to raise $540 by December 2009, to assist the following countries: Uganda, India, Timor-Leste, Cambodia, Vietnam, Sierra Leone and Sri Lanka.

Zambia Sponsor Child

For over three years staff have made salary donations to Juana, our Sponsor Child in Zambia and we receive regular updates on her progress and home and school life.

Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation

Searson Buck's local community focus continued with salary donations to the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation, a cause we have supported for many years.

Victoria Bushfire Appeal

To show our support for the victims of the bushfires Searson Buck donated old clothes to the Salvation Army and local Labour offices, raised money to support the Victorian Bushfire Underwear Appeal being championed by local parliamentarian Duncan Kerr, and raised money to donate directly to the NAB Bushfire fun.

For 2010 we will continue many current programs and look for new SECA initiatives to make further community contributions.
